Was founded in South Africa in 2015 with the desire to design and develop uniquely African, handcrafted home‑fragrance products. Uzuria began as a small studio practice and has grown by remaining true to that original intention: considered scent, honest materials and visible craft.
UZURIA is a composition of the Swahili word “uzuri,” meaning “beauty,” and the letter “A,” for Africa. We take pride in celebrating African beauty—its landscapes, stories and materials—through vessels, fragrances and the memories they inspire.
By working closely with local artisans and manufacturing our products in South Africa, we retain hands‑on oversight at every stage of production. This close collaboration ensures consistent quality, supports skilled makers and keeps the supply chain transparent from formulation to finish.
Sustainability is central to our approach: we prioritise renewable waxes, recyclable or reusable packaging and low‑impact production methods. Vessels are designed to be repurposed after use, and we select printing and finishing options with environmental impact in mind.
Craftsmanship matters. From scent development and hand‑pouring to curing and quality checks, every candle passes through experienced hands in our Pretoria studio. Each piece is inspected for burn performance and safety so you can enjoy a reliable, even flame.
